A Standard Edition is not appearing.

A Standard Edition attaches automatically when its exact supported game and platform are added from the in-app catalog. It does not create the game on its own, and a manually created game cannot make that catalog match.

  1. Check the current Standard Edition shelf for the supported game, platform, region, and scope.
  2. In the app, choose Add Game and select that game and platform from the catalog.
  3. Open the game in the library. The included Standard Edition should appear with its saved guides.

Exact platform matters

An edition written for the Super Nintendo release does not imply support for a later port, remake, or another region. Each guide page states the release it supports.

Import one personal TXT guide.

  1. Add the destination game from the catalog or create it manually.
  2. Choose Import TXT Guide and select the file from Files.
  3. Select the game that should hold the guide.

Imports accept plain-text files up to 10 MB. Unzip ZIP archives before importing the extracted .txt file. PDF, HTML, and other document formats are not accepted as personal file imports.

Import a folder of TXT guides.

Choose the parent folder that contains platform folders, such as gba, nes, or snes. The preview matches guides from folder paths and filenames, not from the text inside each file. Clean game titles and recognized platform-folder names give it better evidence.

  • Download cloud-backed folders in Files before scanning them.
  • Review matches, duplicates, and unresolved files before importing.
  • The free tier can import games that fit within its remaining three-game allowance. The one-time purchase removes that game limit for larger batches.

Restore the unlimited-library purchase.

From the library toolbar, open the books icon labeled Unlock Unlimited Games. The same purchase screen appears when a fourth game or an oversized folder selection exceeds the remaining free slots. Choose Restore Purchases there. A connection is required while Apple and RevenueCat check the purchase entitlement.

The unlock is a one-time in-app purchase, not a subscription. Its localized price is shown inside the app. No Retro Game Guides account is required.

What works without a connection?

Standard Editions, imported and saved guides, library organization, in-guide search, reading progress, favorites, and custom sections work on-device once the content is there. Finding a new guide online, loading cover art, and making or restoring a purchase use the network when needed.

Where is the library stored?

The guide library stays on the device. Retro Game Guides does not provide an account or cloud-sync service. Removing the app also removes its local library; device backups are controlled by iOS or iPadOS and the Apple settings on the device.
