A Standard Edition is not appearing.
A Standard Edition attaches automatically when its exact supported game and platform are added from the in-app catalog. A manually created game does not make that catalog match.
- Check the current Standard Edition shelf for the supported game, platform, region, and scope.
- In the app, open Guides, choose Add, then Find a game. Select the matching game and platform from the catalog.
- Open the game in the library. The included Standard Edition should appear with its saved guides.
If an included guide was deleted, open Standard Editions from the shelf at the bottom of Guides, select its edition, and choose Add for that game. This attaches a fresh copy to the matching game without using another game slot.
Exact platform matters
An edition written for the Super NES release does not imply support for a later port, remake, or another region. Each guide page states the release it supports.
Import one personal TXT guide.
- Open Guides, choose Add, then Import a TXT file.
- Select the file from Files.
- Select the game that should hold the guide.
If you already have the game's page open, choose Import TXT there to add files directly to that game.
Imports accept plain-text files up to 10 MB. Unzip ZIP archives before importing the extracted .txt file. PDF, HTML, and other document formats are not accepted as personal file imports.
Import a folder of TXT guides.
Open Guides, choose Add, then Import a folder. Select the parent folder that contains platform folders, such as gba, nes, or snes. The preview matches guides from folder paths and filenames, not from the text inside each file. Clean game titles and recognized platform-folder names give it better evidence.
- Download cloud-backed folders in Files before scanning them.
- Review matches, duplicates, and unresolved files before importing.
- The free tier can import games that fit within its remaining three-game allowance. The one-time purchase removes that game limit for larger batches.
Restore the unlimited-library purchase.
Open Settings and choose Restore purchases in the Library section. A connection is required while Apple and RevenueCat check the purchase entitlement.
To buy the unlock, choose Unlock Unlimited Library in the same section. The purchase screen also appears when adding a fourth game or importing a folder would exceed the remaining free slots.
The unlock is a one-time in-app purchase, not a subscription. Its localized price is shown inside the app. No Retro Game Guides account is required.
What works without a connection?
Standard Editions, imported and saved guides, library organization, search across your guides and within an open guide, reading progress, favorites, bookmarks, highlights, notes, and checklist ticks work on-device once the content is there. Finding a new guide online, loading cover art, and making or restoring a purchase use the network when needed.
Where is the library stored?
The guide library stays on the device. Retro Game Guides does not provide an account or cloud-sync service. Removing the app also removes its local library; device backups are controlled by iOS or iPadOS and the Apple settings on the device.
Report a guide correction.
If a Standard Edition has a wrong step, missing item, or unclear instruction, open a public support issue or send a private message, and name the game, platform, and section. For a reader-layout problem, use Report Issue inside the guide so the app can prepare useful rendering details privately. Do not post private information or copyrighted guide text in a public issue.
